This method appears in guides published in August 2026, although they do not identify a specific game build.

What You Need

Requirements04
  • One or more Lumlings found while exploring
  • The Coraler, used to capture them
  • A Critter Fence to contain them near your water system
  • An area that keeps the Lumlings above the waterline

A Pump and Pipe can move the Water to another part of your factory. They support distribution; they do not generate the Water.

No minimum Lumling count, exact build size, crafting cost, or required Factory Level is confirmed for this setup.

How to Make Infinite Water with Lumlings

  1. 01

    Find Lumlings while exploring

Capture the critters you intend to use as your Water source.

  2. 02

    Research and use the Coraler

Use it to capture the Lumlings and carry them back to your base.

  3. 03

Build a Critter Fence near your water system

Keep the Lumlings contained without letting them sink below the waterline.

  4. 04

Place the Lumlings in the enclosure

Once they are above the waterline, they can release Water into your setup.

  5. 05

    Move the Water if necessary

Add a Pump and Pipe when the Water needs to reach another area of the factory.

  6. 06

    Watch the supply under load

Confirm that Water continues entering the system while your production lines are running.

How the Lumling Setup Works

The setup has two separate jobs:

  • The Lumlings generate Water. They release it while they remain above the waterline.
  • The surrounding system contains and distributes it. The Critter Fence keeps the Lumlings in position, while a Pump and Pipe can carry the Water elsewhere.

If no Water is being produced, check the Lumlings' position. If Water is present but does not reach its destination, check the transport layout and Pump height. A working setup can still fall short when factory consumption exceeds its output.

Why Your Infinite Water Setup Is Not Working

Problem 01

The Lumlings Are Below the Waterline

Lumlings need to remain above the waterline to release Water. If the enclosure lets them sink into the reservoir, raise or revise the containment area.

Problem 02

The Pump Cannot Reach the Required Height

A Pump will not make Water drip higher than the Pump itself. If the destination is above that level, revise the Pump position or route.

Problem 03

Your Factory Uses Water Faster Than the Lumlings Produce It

If Water is being generated but the level keeps falling, consumption may exceed output. There is no universal Lumling count; judge the setup under your factory's actual load.

Other Ways to Cover a Water Shortage

A Snow-filled Condenser has been described as a temporary source when a Pump cannot reach the required area. It is a stopgap, not a replacement for the Lumling setup described above.
